Youth in Agriculture
More than half of Africa’s youth are expected to work in agriculture, but youth often view farming as a dead-end job rather than a viable career path. By providing students with hands-on agricultural training, leadership opportunities, and financial literacy education, SBAE empowers them to see agriculture not only as a viable career path but also as a means of fostering self-reliance and community leadership.
Through SBAE, students not only embrace new technologies but also become drivers of agricultural innovation and community development. Innovations often elicit uncertainty within any social system, especially in agriculture, making adoption a critical component of the innovation process. Young people, more easily influenced than adults and better equipped with basic numeracy and literacy skills, are an ideal entry point into communities.
Leadership and Aspirations
SBAE transforms agriculture into a respected field of innovation and leadership, enhancing self-esteem and pride through leadership opportunities, competitions, and collaborative projects.
Learn and Earn
Home entrepreneurship projects allow students to experience farming as a business, providing tangible benefits like better meals, school supplies, and educational opportunities.
